Fled (1996)

Directed by Kevin Hooks. Starring Stephen Baldwin, Laurence Fishburne, Will Patton, Salma Hayek, Robert John Burke, Victor Rivers, Robert Hooks, Brittney Powell, David Dukes, Michael Nader, Ken Jenkins. [R]

Fled, the past tense of flee, which is precisely what sensible moviegoers should do. Empty-headed programmer with convicts Baldwin and Fishburne chained to each other while on the run from mobsters and cops doesn’t summon memories of The Defiant Ones and The Fugitive so much as memories of how much more fun it is to get a root canal. Once they’re unchained, it turns into a generic buddy action flick with lazy writing, moldy one-liners, and anti-chemistry between the leads. Throws all credibility out the window in the prologue and never looks back, just like wiser viewers will do while fleeing. RuPaul cameos.
