Three Coins in the Fountain (1954)

Directed by Jean Negulesco. Starring Dorothy McGuire, Jean Peters, Louis Jourdan, Clifton Webb, Rossano Brazzi, Maggie McNamara, Howard St. John, Kathryn Givney.

Lovely scenery and music is about all this stagnant, trivial fable has going for it. Three American women sharing an apartment while working in Rome find romance after tossing coins into the famous Trevi Fountain. Do yourself a favor: leave the coin in your pocket and keep walking. Based on a book by John H. Secondari, and later retold as a 1964 musical (The Pleasure Seekers). Oscar-winning title tune sung by an uncredited Frank Sinatra.
